The American novelist Thomas Leo "Tom" Clancy, Jr. was born in Baltimore. His father worked for the United States Postal Service and his mother worked in a store’s credit department. He was educated at the Catholic Loyola Blakefield high school in Towson, Maryland, and at Loyola College, graduating with a degree in English Literature in 1969.
