Gilbert, Anthony

Pseudonym for the English author Lucy Beatrice Malleson, born in London where she also lived all her life. For fifty years she wrote primarily crime fiction, but under the name of Anne Meredith she also wrote fiction which usually had women in the leading role. Her diligence resulted in almost 90 novels, a long string of short stories and playscripts as well as an autobiography. For many years, she was more or less forgotten, but her books achieved an unexpected renaissance during the 2010s.
