Liliane Korb and Laurence Lefèvre, are the two sisters behind the pseudonym Claude Izner. Their father was a bookseller, a bouquiniste, who owned a bookstall on the banks of the Seine and lived with his family in a cheap boarding house on the outskirts of Paris. Liliane, born in 1940, has had a career as a film producer and scriptwriter who changed track as the the French film industry became Americanised. She followed in her father’s footsteps and became a bouquiniste. Laurence, born in 1951, is an archaeologist, but due to the low job prospects she joined her sister’s business. Liliane Korb has now retired and Laurence Lefèvre has taken over the bookstall together with her husband.
