Lewis, Mary

Writing as Christianna Brand, Mary Lewis, born Mary Christianna Milne, was one of Britain’s foremost crime writers and children’s books authors of the second half of the 20th century, but she had a reputation for unpredictability. In the 1950s, for example, she suddenly took a ten-year break from writing crime novels in order to focus on short stories and children’s books.
