Persson Giolito, Malin

When Malin Persson Giolito was still called only Persson, she grew up in Djursholm, Stockholm. Her mother, who was the person who had the absolutely largest share in her upbringing, was a nurse. Her father was Leif G.W. Persson, the famous criminologist and novelist. This might have contributed to Malin Persson deciding to study Law at Uppsala University and also became a writer. She graduated in 1994. After spending one and a half years at the EU court and doing further studies in Belgium, she was offered a top job at the Mannheimer Swartling legal firm, and she worked for them in both Brussels and Stockholm. In connection with her third pregnancy, she was given notice to leave her job. Being a top legal figure and a mother of three was seen as being incompatible. After that, she worked as a civil servant with the European Commission in Brussels. Lawyer, actress and author were her dream jobs when Malin Persson was a little girl. She has dropped the idea of being an actress.
