Piñeiro, Claudia

Argentinian author born in Burzaco, Buenos Aires. Claudia Piñeiro started reading social sciences, but she switched to economics and became a chartered accountant instead. During a business trip in 1999 she spotted a small advert for a novel writing competition announced by the Tusquets publishing house, and since she had by then grown tired of her job she immediately decided to take time off to write a book. She has said that it felt as if someone had thrown her a life buoy. At first she did not even know that the competition was for the erotic series "La sonrisa vertical" (The Vertical Smile). Claudia Piñeiro was shortlisted with "El secreto de las rubias", but her novel was never published.
