Pseudonym for the English author and journalist Arthur Henry Ward, who already as a teenager added Sarsfield as a last middle name. In 1909, he started to use the pseudonym Sax Rohmer, and a few years later he also used it in his private life even though he never formally changed his name. As Rohmer, he was one of the most popular English authors mainly during the 1920s and 1930s, not least thanks to the stories about the Chinese master criminal Fu-Manchu (the hyphen in the name was, however, dropped after the first books.)
