Smirnoff, Karin

Karin Smirnoff has the same name as August Strindberg’s daughter, dramatist and author Karin Smirnoff (1880-1973) who also wrote novels. ‘Our’ Karin Smirnoff grew up in Stockholm, but now lives in Hertsånger in Västerbotten, northern Sweden. She has her roots on her mother’s side in the same area. Karin has previously worked as a journalist and photographer, one of her employers being Västerbottens Folkblad. She has also worked in a restaurant, in a state-run alcohol shop, as a home-care assistant, a karate instructor (with her own black belt) and has also had her own business selling timber products. She has three children.
