Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (Plum to his family and friends) was a British author born in Guildford, Surrey. His father was a civil servant stationed in Hong Kong, and his mother went back to England to give birth. She then returned to Hong Kong with the boy. When Wodehouse was two years old, he and his two older brothers were sent to England where they were brought up by relatives. Although he seldom saw his parents, it was a loving family, and he described his childhood as happy.
